The UK is far ahead of Europe as a whole, with online DVD rental accounting for some 25% of all rentals already, according to estimates by market leader Lovefilm, and a past Screendigest report estimated this would rise to over half by 2010, though some in the industry we've spoken to think that may be slightly optimistic. Unfortunately, we haven't seen similar data or estimates for Australia, but we suspect the trends are broadly similiar.
We did find interesting that the report noted digital downloads will remain a niche, only accounting for 6% of the market by 2010. See Screen Digest press release for further details.
